Just a quick follow up on the idea of the internet as another medium for maintaining relationships...First off, Gina Lynn recently wrote on Wired News about the dangers of being able to instantly find out the whereabouts of an ex. Google offers a powerful way to taunt yourself with memories of the past. I'm not sure this is such a bad thing.
Second, a friend of mine recently lost a domain name to porn. When the name expired, a porn company bought it and used it to serve porn. While this is totally legal, it's shady as all get out and a really despicable practice. Now when people go to this website, they see porn. I guess this shows the darker side of the internet. I know this is nothing new, but this is the first time it's happened to someone I know, and it hits harder this close to home.
